The Quell 4L Lithium-ion Fire Extinguisher comes with a 3 year warranty and complies with the Mandatory Australian Standard AS/NZS1841.2 – 2007 as water-type fire extinguishers and has been tested on and successfully extinguished 2.4kWh lithium-ion battery fires without re-ignition.
Currently, there is no Australian Standard specifically for Lithium-Ion battery fires. The scope of Global-Mark certification does not include lithium-ion batteries, this extinguisher is certified & approved to AS/NZ1841.2, 2A rating.
Lithium-ion battery fires can spread rapidly, producing toxic smoke and can be very difficult to extinguish. Fire authorities advise people to evacuate to a safe place and call 000 immediately and not attempt to put out lithium-ion battery fires themselves.
Consequently, the ACCC has determined that this fire extinguisher should only be used by trained fire-fighting professionals when attacking lithium-ion battery fires.
